Wreaths Across America Group # MD0316

Babylon Vault Company became involved with Wreaths Across America in 2018 with a goal to place a wreath on every veteran’s grave in Carroll County, Maryland. The family owned, 93-year-old company has a long tradition of honoring veterans at their funeral service, so this was the perfect partnership to embrace as a community outreach program.

Initially, 7 cemeteries participated, and 851 wreaths were placed simultaneously with Arlington National Cemetery as well as over 1600 approved cemeteries in all 50 states, at sea, and abroad. In 2023, 41 cemeteries participated and over 4,100 wreaths were placed here within Carroll County. The event continues to grow as cemeteries are added every year. Following a brief ceremony, wreaths are placed at each veteran’s grave. Each veteran is recognized as their name is spoken as the wreaths are being placed. Family members are encouraged to place wreaths on their loved one’s graves during a special portion of the ceremony.

The event relies extensively on volunteers, of which Babylon Vault Company coordinates. There are many ways for individuals, organizations, and businesses to become involved. This could include sponsoring a wreath, wreath transportation, location coordinators, musicians, singers, color guard, flag folding or even a gun salute. Even though the ceremony is scripted, there are opportunities for personalizing each location.

If you would like to become involved in any way or are a business interested in joining us in honoring our hometown Veterans through our Wreaths Across America Adopt-A-Cemetery campaign, please contact Tammy Ray by phone at 443-605-5461, or email Tammy@BabylonVaultCompany.com for details.
