We are proud to announce the Drape & Honor flag retirement program.
The United States flag code states “the flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”
Our Drape & Honor flag retirement program respectfully uses a retired flag to accompany the veteran during the cremation. This allows the flag to be disposed of in a dignified manner while simultaneously honoring the veteran.
The retired flags used for this program are donated by the community. If the family chooses cremation at the time of a veteran’s death, the funeral director can make the flag draping arrangements at no extra charge.
Upon receipt of the cremains, the family will receive a keepsake card stating the last deed of service for the retired flag.
When a flag is no longer worthy of display, they can be dropped off in the designated receptable outside our office 24/7. These flags are a fitting tribute to veterans and a patriotic way to retire aged, tattered flags.
We are proud to be the first within the county to offer this program. All of the funeral homes listed under the Funeral Directors tab are honored to offer this service.
TRIBUTE to the Flag … DIGNITY of Service … HONOR the Veteran
As a final tribute, choose a beautiful urn vault to encase the cremains. Check out the Cremation Vault tab for beautiful options to honor your veteran loved one.
